Thyroid Health - Continuing the Journey
If you want a healthy thyroid, you have to look at the big picture – let’s continue our look into estrogen dominance and its affects on the thyroid.

How do you know if you have too much estrogen in your tissues?  Here are some of the symptoms of Estrogen Dominance:

  • Weight gain
  • Fatigue
  • Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
  • Arthritis
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • PMS
  • Migraines / Headaches
  • Bloating
  • Constipation
  • Mood Swings
  • Infertility / Miscarriage
  • Fibroids
  • Heavy menstrual bleeding
  • Irregular menstruation
  • Breast Tenderness
  • Edema / Water retention /Puffiness
  • Hot flashes
  • Depression
  • Varicose veins
  • Skin problems
  • Acne
  • Goiter / Enlarged thyroid
  • Joint pains / stiffness
  • Lack of flexibility
  • Carpel tunnel Syndrome
  • Muscle Cramps
  • Recurring urinary tract infections
  • Candida / fungal infections
  • Histamine intolerance
  • Gall bladder disease
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Breast Cancer
That's a long list!  I had many of these indicators for years, and not one doctor ever put it together.  I ended up having to have a hysterectomy for endometrial cancer (estrogen driven cancer) and I am convinced it could have been avoided, IF someone had taught me these things a long time ago.

STRESS was probably the single-most contributor to my health challenges – it certainly was intense, and long-term.  I owned my own court reporting business for twenty years and often worked 80-hour weeks, and I was a single mom at the time.

How did I deal with the stress of work?  I worked out – really hard – all the time.  Those intense workouts just created more stress hormones in my body!  Movement would have been great, but hard core exercise was not what I needed.

The second problem was: I was using ALL the scented things – Cleaners, candles, air fresheners, body washes, shampoos, etc….. you get the picture – I was flooding my body with endocrine disruptors on a daily basis.  I did this for years, and the end result….. CANCER,  HASHIMOTO’S THYROIDITIS, and Lord only knows what else!

I was diagnosed with the Hashimoto’s long before the cancer.  I was given synthetic thyroid hormones for years; and even though they made my blood work look good to the doctor, they didn’t do much for my symptoms.   (No energy, gaining weight, dry skin, hair falling out, constipation… all the usual low thyroid symptoms).

Finally, after years of trial and error, and research, I have gotten off all the meds – that’s right, at age 67, I don’t have to take any prescription drugs whatsoever!  I did it by supplementing with natural thyroid supplements, supporting my liver, taking lots of antioxidants, eating good whole foods and minimizing sugar intake, and using a natural-based (not synthetic) progesterone serum, and getting moderate exercise.  I learned a lot about dealing with hypothyroidism with a natural approach from this program/ebook.

I do a lot of “self-care” things, like meditation, walks in nature, and only use products that do not have endocrine disruptors in them.

I diffuse essential oils regularly and never use scented candles or air fresheners.  I also don’t use any laundry products with their toxic ingredients – dryer sheets and fabric softeners are horrendous!
