Congratulations!
You've taken the first step (often the hardest) to nourish and take care of your mental health, as well as your physical health!

Years ago I was diagnosed with a stress-induced autoimmune condition that was, in part, triggered by excessive worrying about everything!  I tried to take care of my worry with a "workaholic" approach to everything, but it didn't stop the fact that I couldn't sleep, and worry was what ruled my actions.

I now sleep restfully, wake up refreshed and energized, and have learned how to take care of my mental health and eliminated all meds for my autoimmune issue.  I, personally, do all the things I'm going to share with you, and I attribute my ability to stabilize my mental health and worry to what I'm going to share with you.

May your journey be successful ~ and know that I'm here to help!

In these stressful times we could all use some help with our mental health!  This page is dedicated to give you tips and recommendations that have been proven to be beneficial for supporting a healthy mental attitude.

It seems as though we are surrounded with doom & gloom in the world today.  I hope to offer you some tried and true strategies for creating more balance and emotional stability for everyone in these most difficult times.  The following tips and recommendations are things that I personally have found to be beneficial for me in maintaining a healthy outlook on life and hope for the future.  I hope you find them helpful, too.

Excessive Worrying ....

  • I recently wrote a blog on this topic you can access HERE
  • If you can't change or control something, learn how to "let it be" - becoming consciously aware when you are worrying about things you cannot control or influence is the first step in stopping the cycle of worry.
  • Meditation & Mindfulness practices are worthwhile things to develop
  • Take a walk in nature
  • Drink lots of water (yes, dehydration can create foggy thinking, and when you can't think clearly, you can't choose your thoughts).
  • Eat a healthy diet with lots of fruits & vegetables.  Stay away from processed foods & sugar-laden ingredients
  • Turn off the News!  (Seriously, this one tip could change everything)
Inflammation Linked to Depression & Anxiety
When you research into causes of depression and anxiety, one the things you will see mentioned is an underlying cause of 𝙄𝙉𝙁𝙇𝘼𝙈𝙈𝘼𝙏𝙄𝙊𝙉.

 When there is inflammation:
 - the body does not get enough rapid eye movement (REM) aka deep sleep
 - the level of cortisol increases at night, making sleep unrestful
 - the sleep center of your brain (the hypothalamus) becomes suppressed.

Inflammation will cause sleep loss. Period. Just one night of sleep loss can further spike inflammation. Can you see how vicious this cycle of sleep loss and inflammation is, if not addressed properly?

Here's where my digging led to - an essential oil called COPAIBA;  contains one of the highest level of anti-inflammatory properties in nature called beta caryophylene . Young Living has Copaiba available for topical, aromatic, as well as internal use.  I've ingested it, dripped under the tongue and/or kept applying it to support the body when I know I am dealing with inflammation.

Take a Walk!

Getting outside in nature is one of the most powerful ways I have found to help me clear my mind and shift my outlook on life.  It's important to take time to notice everything around you when you walk.

I, personally, don't like to listen to tunes, or podcasts or anything else when I'm taking my walks.... I want the full benefit of being mindful of all the beauty around me and taking in the fresh air with a grateful heart.  This is truly my "therapy time," and it works.. EVERY time!

Nutrition & Mental Health

Here's an article from the National Institute of Health on the correlation between mental health and nutritional deficiencies CLICK TO READ which basically states that Nutritional neuroscience is shedding light on the fact that nutritional factors are definitely linked to human cognition, behavior and emotions. The article points out that Omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, Minerals and Amino Acids are important for emotional health.

Others recommend a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and avoiding processed foods and refined sugar... yes, those desserts may make you happy for a moment, but they have blowback!
