What If?

What If?
As we head into a new year, it's like turning a new leaf; and it's a great time to explore how we can create a better year ahead!  Albert Einstein, widely acknowledged to be one of the greatest physicists of all time, has some amazing quotes that make me want to ask.... What If?

Example, Einstein's quote:  “I didn't arrive at my understanding of the fundamental laws of the universe through my rational mind.”?  What if we opened our eyes to what is possible, through our own creative genius, and ignore the anchors of the rational mind?

Have you ever read Bruce Lipton, PhD's book ~ "Biology of Belief" where he explores the power of our mind to create our reality?  I highly recommend it.   Bruce Lipton isn't the only one who has been shouting from the rooftops for decades about how we can create any reality we want with the power of our own minds.  I've read many such books for years and thought I had a pretty good understanding of the concept, and I believed it to be true.  It wasn't until more recently that I actually got to the point where I'm excited about the possibility of what I can create, and for me, it all starts with the question ~ What if?

I'm going to challenge you to try it for yourself (and for those of you who are already "checking out" because you don't like the word "challenge" - ask yourself, what if I choose to accept a challenge as a way to expand my world?)

Here's how the "What if?" question works:  You pick something in your life that you would like to change.  Let's say you want to lose 10 pounds, and you've tried everything and the weight just won't budge.  Ask yourself:  What if I did lose 10 pounds?  Then write down every thought that immediately pops into your mind in response to that question.

If your immediate thoughts are negative (I've tried everything, and nothing works, etc.) then you - or rather your thoughts - are the problem.  Whatever you believe to be true, is true; because your beliefs create your reality.

Now it's time to change your thoughts.  Instead of "I've tried everything, and nothing works" start controlling your thoughts and choosing the opposite ~ "I haven't really tried everything, because I haven't used the power of my thoughts to change my beliefs and get results!"

Become aware of your thoughts, and every time they are negative, choose the opposite thought.  If you can't believe the opposite is possible, then work up to it through the process of What if..... what if Einstein was right when he said, "Physical concepts are free creations of the human mind, and are not, however it may seem, determined by the external world."  When you start to explore "What if?" you will start getting different thoughts - I promise!

If your immediate thoughts are positive (I would feel awesome, I could enjoy shopping for new clothes, I would be healthier and feel better) then the next step is to dwell on those positive thoughts and believe they are already true.

If you focus on those positive thoughts of the weight disappearing and all the positive outcomes that come from that, the magic starts to happen.  When you start to feel the excitement that comes when you start to believe it's possible, then you will find yourself making better choices about your eating habits, you might start exercising - even if it's just 30 minute walks, and if you really get into "believing" things are different you can experience what Bruce Lipton writes about in "Biology of Belief" and you can actually change the way your body is holding on to excess weight.

The trick is to actually believe it, and one of the ways we can change our beliefs is through the question, "What if?".

So, my challenge to you is this:  Ask yourself, What If it's possible to have ..... you fill in the blank.   I'd love to hear from you if you accept the challenge, and if you're really ready to shake things up, join our Community of Belief Shapers!  Just reach out to me and I'll tell you what we're doing collectively as a community of Belief Shapers!
